So I totally let the leveling compound / floor patch dry too long. I was expecting it to level out a little more but it pretty much dried before I could use the trowel to spread it. I started off with the palm sander that I already own with the courses grid paper I had, which I think was only 60 or 80. That wasn't doing much so I decided to go buy a belt sander. That was a trip to Raymore Lowes and Lee's Summit because Raymore didn't have the one that I wanted. I bought some 40 grit paper which was the most course I could find there in that size. (3x27) After sanding it down and nearly smoothing down both papers I decided my efforts weren't enough so I started chiseling it out and I got a new bag of the leveling compound so I'll start over in some spots.
In good news though, Brian came over at 9 this morning and we finished the sump pump. Its all hooked up and functioning. I can hear it faintly turn on (and NOT off) through out the day to pump out the ground water from the continuous rain we've had. The reason why we don't hear it turn off is because we installed a Klunkless check valve. The basement is still pretty dirty from all the clay we dug out so we're letting it dry out then we'll go back and clean it up real good.
I just realized that I have been using my MacBook Pro for quite a few weeks now and I still haven't hooked it up to an external mouse. I'm very happy with the touch pad since it is multi-function, large, and smooth. I can't stand working for more than 5 minutes on my Dell without an external mouse.
